For your edification, I self-published my epic fantasy, The Riyria Revelations and sold 70,000 copies (priced $4.95 – $6.95) and later signed a six-figure contract with Orbit and received more than double that advance on 14 overseas deals.
Anyway, if you want some details from someone who has “been in the trenches (and knows some other players and what they accomplished) send me an email.
