Funny he mentions the repeating of certain words, I always notice that in books….when I read Mistborn #1, I must have counted at least 6 uses of “maladroit” or “maladroitly.” Words like that stand out very quickly, which is why a thesaurus can be very useful — finding alternate words so you aren’t repeating yourself.
Actually, Brandon is quite right about Hundred Years of Solitude. It’s not fantasy, it’s fantastic realism. It’s kinds of follows Kafka work.
Another Great example of Latin America fantastic realism is the 1971 book “Incidente em Antares” by Erico VerĂssimo, but I don’t know if it’s been translated to english

I noticed the same thing in the first book. I also noticed that he stopped using that word in the last two books.
